Smartnav 5 displays a 5-inch screen in the middle of your mirror. The view is translucent, allowing drivers to look in the mirror instead of at the screen if they wish. The device has automatic day and night functions, changes the brightness, so as not to interfere with the mirror projections.
Smartnav 5 includes a small computer that runs on Windows CE, and hosts a variety of useful driving applications. It runs the navigation software iGo, giving drivers turn-by-turn guidance. One of the more interesting features is a radar detector that App-Tronics placed on the front of the car. This is how Smartnav 5 displays alerts on the mirror screen every time it detects a police radar.
