Apple: new devices are not at risk from the iBoot leak

For a very short time , την Πέμπτη το πρωί, ο πηγαίος κώδικας του iBoot του iOS 9 ήταν s freely on GitHub. A few hours later, Apple issued several DMCA notifications and "cleaned" repositories from GitHub.

But as most of us know, when something is published on the Internet, it is almost impossible to "collect" it. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),

This probably happened with iBoot, which is probably already on computers of people who are interested in discovering valuable vulnerabilities in Apple's source code.

Η Apple confirmed the leak but according to the company due to the age of the code and other security measures that the company, this particular leak is not a problem for the security of the devices.

Here is Apple's statement on CNET:

“The code appears to have been leaked three years ago, but by design the security of our products does not depend on the secrecy of the source code. There are many layers of hardware and software protected by our products and we always encourage customers to update to the latest software versions to take advantage of the latest protection.”

In other words, if you use a running iOS 10 or later, you may not be at risk.

For those of you using an iOS device that can not upgrade over iOS 9, you probably need to think about an update on a newer device.
