Η κρυπτογραφημένη υπηρεσία συνομιλιών Cryptocat απορρίφθηκε από την Apple και έτσι δεν θα την δούμε σε συσκευές iPhone and iPads. Developer Nadim Kobeissi announced Apple's decision on Twitter.
[tweet_embed id = 416691858832896000] Kobeissi states that under an agreement that has the Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), cannot reveal the reasons that the application was not accepted. The developer however hinted that the reasons that led her company in rejecting the application they were "illegal" and that they could illegally block similar applications in the future.
Cryptocat offers a simple but secure way to encrypt end-to-end conversation. The service has gained international attention, in the light of government interceptions, and is used extensively in countries where freedom of speech is limited. Kobeissi, fearing an invasion by the Canadian government earlier this year, has moved the entire Cryptocat network to servers in Sweden.
The strange thing about this case is that while Cryptocat is already available in Apple's App Store for OS X, (has the same requirements and guidelines for content that developers upload), rejected in the iTunes Store.
Apple, of course, has not given a formal announcement on the rejection, which Kobeissi said could legitimately challenge her.
