Before the Internet, there was ARPANET. A forerunner of the modern Internet. It Advanced Research Projects Agency Network 1969 was born and initially connected only four areas: University of California at Santa Barbara, the Stanford Research Institute, the Network Measurement Center of UCLA and University of Utah.
ARPANET was the first work packet switching network and grew over the years to connect more universities and cities outside of California and Utah until 1990 was disconnected.
