The BackBox Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution used for security assessments and penetration testing. The project has just been released on a new stable version, BackBox Linux 4.7. The new version upgrades key components of the distribution and fixes many bugs.
"The BackBox team is pleased to announce the BackBox Linux 4.7 update. We thought of releasing a new sub-version to give our users the opportunity to have a stable update system until the next major official release, namely BackBox 5 which is still under development.
In this version we fixed some errors minor, the core, the core system and some tools.”
ISO images for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures are available at the end of this post.
What's new:
New Linux kernel 4.4, and updated hacking tools Metasploit, OpenVAS, SE Toolkit, sqlmap, WPScan.
Anyone who uses earlier versions (BackBox 4.x) can upgrade to the latest version rather than reinstalling it.
More details can be found at official announcement of the new version.
