Bitdefender: Scam e-mail from allegedly blocked in Ukraine

Scammers try to trick Internet users in every way, always using "catchy" facts. So the last thing they thought was to use the situation that has arisen in Ukraine.

A scam e-mail presented by Bitdefender has the theme "Help… Douglas Crandall" and states:

"I am writing this text with tears in my eyes. I came to Kiev, Ukraine for a short vacation, and unfortunately, we fell victim to a robbery in the hotel park. They took all our cash, credit cards and cell phones, but fortunately we still have our passports. ”

Scammers using the sob story say they need a $2.500 "loan" to pay their hotel bills. They claim the hotel manager won't let them leave unless they pay their bill. Scammers ask for the to connect via Western Union. This of course makes it very easy for them since they can disappear without a trace once they get the money.

It is self-evident that such messages should be ignored, as cyber criminals know exactly that their story may sound quite convincing.

But on the other hand, who decides to take a vacation with their family in Ukraine at the moment?
