New hit for DarkWeb and online dealers.
Today's owner Black Market Reloaded, (another underground drug market, its competitor Silk Road) announced the closure of the website as leaks were discovered security. The event marks the third shutdown of a drug-selling website in less than a month, after the Atlantis and Silk Road.
A message titled "End of the Road," the owner of the BMR site, known by the nickname "backopy," admitted that another site administrator had stolen the site's code and leaked it online. In the short message (shown below) the backopy reports that the site had been hacked by a Virtual Private Server (VPS) administrator in its early days.
"This means that no website can function anymore," reports backopy.
The online drug market "opened" around June 2011, competing with the famous Silk Road. Silk Road was seized by the FBI earlier this month. Although it did not have as many customers as Silk Road, authorities estimate it has made $ 1.200.000.000 in sales since January 2011. The BMR online shelves contained all the drugs as well as several firearms.
Backup reported that the ID card of the site's users has not been disclosed and that he does not really know how much of the site's code has been leaked.
"The code had links to the rest of the infrastructure," Backopy said. "It wouldn't be wise to let the website run."
The code appeared in a German forum by a person with the nickname "dosadmin" who shared it in public, as Forbes reports.
After closing it Atlantis and Silk Road, many sellers and buyers reportedly moved to BMP to continue their activity. In one post, someone who said they werefaceto him Atlantis said the BMR members had almost doubled in the two weeks following the Silk Road closure.
The reason that closed this site may have nothing to do with what its owner claims. The Silk Road Attack on the Silk Road and its closure proved that it is a very difficult time for online Escobar.
