Firefox add-on turns computers into zombies on a botnet

On the Monday that passed us, Brian Krebs αποκάλυψε την ύπαρξη ενός botnet που ονομάζεται Power. The botnet was running a fake version of the utility Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant and came as a Firefox add-on. The popular browser extension turned computers installed into zombies that looked at websites for SQL Injection vulnerabilities.

Mozilla of course announced that it blocked the fake add-on, Microsoft. NET Framework Assistant.

The add-on is automatically disabled so if you are one of those who had it installed you don't need to do anything.
Brian Krebs reported that the botnet has already infected over 12.500 computers. Cybercriminals used the to monitor all the websites visited by the owners of the infected devices, to detect points that allow SQL Injection attacks.
