Not long ago Brendan Eich took the lead of Mozilla. Last night, however, he officially announced his resignation. The resignation of the new CEO of Mozilla came when a scandal triggered by a donation made a few years ago to support an anti-gay community condemning the same-sex marriage.
"Mozilla prides itself on adhering to a different standard, and last week it did not. We know why people are angry, and they are right: it's because we did not stay true to ourselves, "said a statement posted on the company's blog.
"We did not act as you would expect Mozilla to act. We did not move fast enough to work with people when the conflict started. We're sorry. We have to do something better than that, "the post continues.
Ο Mitchell Baker, the president of the Mozilla Foundation, as well as the former CEO of Mozilla Corporation, announced that Brendan Eich has chosen to step down from his role as CEO, for the sake of Mozilla and the community.
He also decided to leave the company completely, stating that Mozilla's mission is greater than anything and anyone else.
“Mozilla stands out for equality and freedom of speech and for accepting suggestions from everyone, regardless of age, culture, nationality, gender, gender identity, language, race, sexual orientation, geographic location and religious opinions.” Mozilla supports equality for all.
Important movement from the Mozilla Foundation, don't you agree?
