The Chinese exchange Bitcoin Bter was breached by hackers on Valentine's Day who managed to steal 1,75 millions dollars to Bitcoins.
The company hasn't revealed much about the breach, other than that 7.170 BTC were stolen from the offline wallet used on February 14, through a single link which led to the platform.
The company is currently offering 720 BTC – about $170.000 for it recovery of stolen digital currencies.
This is the second major Bitcoin heist via hack in recent years two months. Before Slovenian Bitcoin exchange Bitstamp lost around $5 million in January.
It is likely that this year's debate over Bitcoin will focus more on security than on whether companies or individuals choose to adopt the digital currency.
