Canonical has just released an important Snapcraft tool update for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus. The 2.10 version is available for download and installation and can be used to package applications like Snaps.
The new Snapcraft 2.10 seems to be an important version of the application with many new features. Of the new features added, it is worth mentioning macaroons' support for authentication.
Macaroons support for authentication will allow Snapcraft developers to create additional macaroons possibilities for communicating with store APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Additionally, it appears that there is now support for archives zip, which will be used as a kind of source for plugins.
Also, the new Snapcraft 2.10 has the ability to command "snapcraft init." The command can create a valid template that new users can use to start packing their apps like Snaps.
As mentioned, the new version of 2.10.1 is currently available in the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus software repositories, and you can install it by following the instructions below.
