Have you ever thought of changing it boot logo of your computer, or because you want someone tailored to your own taste, or why do you want to prove to your friends that you can do it? The following steps will help you do it just as simply as possible.
Preparation:
First you should have full access to the following file. This file is where the boot logo is stored:
C: \ Windows \ Boot \ Resources \ bootres.dll
The easiest way to get full access is TakeOwnershipEx. It will allow you to have full access to any file with just one click.
Alternatively, run the commands below (open the window orders from search by searching for cmd.exe)
takeown / f C: \ Windows \ Boot \ Resources \ bootres.dll icacls C: \ Windows \ Boot \ Resources \ bootres.dll / grant% username%
How to replace the file that contains it Boot logo.
Let's go change the Boot logo, then.
To prepare bootres.dll, create a folder on C: C: \ Bootlogo. Copy and paste the bootres.dll file into this folder.
Create a folder called Logos This will be the folder that will later have the images that we will extract from the DLL file so that you can edit them.
Now you need to download some necessary apps into your Bootlogo folder:
Signer: Signer is a tool that will allow you to sign your own certificates.
The latest alpha version of 7-Zip: 7-zip is a famous free archiving tool. Do not worry, for the 1st edition, it's stable.
Restorator: It's one of the best resource-editing tools, but it's not free. Only Restorator will work in this case, as other applications can damage the resources inside the DLL. B.C. the popular free software, Resource Hacker is inappropriate in our case.
Using Restorer, open the bootres.dll file and find the RCData section from the left. Inside RCData, you will see a file called “1”. Right click and Extreatment as ( Extract as) and save the resulting file as RCDATA_1.wim.
Open the RCDATA_1.wim file using 7-zip and extract all the images to the previously created Logos folder to edit. It should be in the same resolution as the original images. Their format should be in "24-bit bitmap".
Use your favorite program image editor to create your own images. When you're done, use 7-Zip again to pack the edited images back into the RCDATA_1.wim file.
Right-click "1" on the Restorator and select Assign / Assign to., Search for the edited RCData_1.wim.
Save the DLL and Restore.
Open a command line and go to the C: \ Bootlogo folder by typing:
cd C: \ Bootlogo
Then type the following command in the C: \ Bootlogo folder
signer / sign sign bootres.dll
Signer will ask you to install a root certificate, select Yes.
Place your modified bootres.dll file back into the C: \ Windows \ Boot \ Resources \ folder and restart your computer. It is a good idea to change the original bootres.dll to the old one, to keep a backup.
If your logo does not appear, and you only see the boot animation, then run the following command in a command window
Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
Restart your computer.
If you can not see your new logo once again, repeat all the steps above once again, because there is a chance you did something wrong.
That's it! Enjoy your customized Boot Logo.
