Chrome: unlock the malware scanner

What you may not know is that Chrome in Windows has its own malware scanner. It runs periodically to clear the unwanted software in your browser, but you can use it to run scans whenever you want. Chrome

Make it on the menu button in the upper right corner of Chrome and select Settings.

At the bottom of the list, click the Advanced button to display all the options.
Under Restore and Cleanup, click Clean Up Computer.
Inside, you'll see the Find and Remove Malware option. This choice is basically the Chrome malware scanner. Click the Find button to perform a scan.
Once completed, the Chrome will notify you if it finds something harmful on your computer. If it finds it, you can proceed to remove it.

If you do not see the option, make sure you have updated Chrôme on last edition from the menu Menu - Help - About Google Chrome.

Note that this is not a general purpose malware scanner. It only checks for malware that "hits" Chrome. So, you should always have a reliable one as well (up to date).

The scanner will help you remove any browser hijackers, and can be used when you see pop-ups, search pages that you did not specify, or virus alerts. Generally, if your Chrôme seems slow, use the scanner.
