Chrome Cleanup Tool: The fight against malware is a constant battle that evolves as technology from every side grows constantly. So at the moment it's perfectly reasonable to use every tool at your disposal to keep your computer safe.
What you may not know is that Chrome in Windows has its own malware scanner. It runs periodically to clear the unwanted software in your browser, but you can use it to run scans whenever you want.
Below we'll see how to unlock your Chrome malware embedded scanner.
Make it click on the menu button in the upper right corner of Chrome and select Settings.
At the bottom of the list, click the Advanced button to display all the options.
Under Restore and Cleanup, click Clean Up Computer.
Inside, you'll see the Find and Remove Malware option. This choice is basically the Chrome malware scanner. Click the Find button to perform a scan.
Once completed, the Google Chrome will notify you if it finds something harmful on your computer. If it finds it, you can proceed to remove it.
The next time you want to use the feature you can easily do so from the link below: (copy and pasting in Chrome's address bar)
chrome://settings/cleanup
If you do not see the option, make sure you have updated Chrôme on last edition from the menu Menu - Help - About Google Chrome.
Note that this is not a general purpose malware scanner. It only checks for malware that "hits" Chrome. So, you should always have a reliable one as well antivirus (up to date).
The scanner will help you remove any browser hijackers, and can be used when you see pop-ups, search pages that you did not specify, or virus alerts. Generally, if your Chrôme seems slow, use the scanner.
