The Electronic Crime Investigation Division participated in an Interpol International Business, codenamed "PANGEA", to identify websites for the illicit trafficking and sale of pharmaceuticals.

In parallel with the PANGEA operation, a case file was also filed against two websites, which sold illegal drugs, without any information for their preparation
Earlier complaints have been made as to the origin and side-effects of their consumption
It is recalled that at the beginning of June a file was filed against an owner of a company based in Ireland who was handling an unauthorized medicinal product
The Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate of the Greek Police set up trials for three (3) websites that promoted illegal drugs that are dangerous to Public Health, for which there have been complaints about the origin and the side-effects of their consumption .
In particular, the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office actively participated in 10-16 June 2015 in the international operation "PANGEA" coordinated by Interpol, which was concerned with the identification of websites where illegal drugs are being trafficked and sold.
PANNEA operated 236 police, customs and regulatory health departments from a total of 115 countries, and 5.907 websites were investigated, 2.414 being deactivated. Also, from the investigations carried out worldwide, 149.623 packages were inspected and 50.068 packets were seized.
In addition, 429 house searches were carried out, in the context of which 156 people were arrested, while 176 arrest warrants were issued. In total, 20.709.886 pieces of drugs were seized, with a total value of US$81.060.037.

A case-file, a regular procedure for the illicit trafficking, sale and sale via the internet, of a medicinal product not authorized by the National Organization of Medicines (EOF) was filed against the owner of the company, based in Ireland.
In addition, there was a site engagement through which illegal, online, pharmaceutical, and drug products were available and sold.
The findings of the investigation were brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney's Office, which issued a relevant prosecutor's order. Subsequently, the National Telecommunications and Posts Commission was informed of the illegal activity of the website in question, which acted to prevent access to its content.
Along with the International Business "PANGEA", the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office also formed a second file, at the expense of two more websites.
It was preceded by a complaint by the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, according to which on the websites in question, it was possible to buy illegal drugs, without a medical prescription, for which no information was disclosed about their origin or their manufacturing factories. In addition, there were serious doubts about both their authenticity and their safety, thus putting Public Health at serious and immediate risk.
The above was brought to the attention of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office, which issued a relevant prosecutorial order. Pursuant to this, the relevant Greek internet service providers were informed of the illegal activity of the above e-mail addresses, who were asked to prevent (block) their subscribers' access to them.
The case files for all cases will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of Athens.
