Infringement of computer systems, false assertion, adulteration of documents in Municipality of Attica

The Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office investigated a case of computer system violations, false testimony, adulteration of documents, etc. in the Municipality of Attica.

From the Electronic Crime Prosecution Division of the Hellenic Police, in the context of an order from the Athens Prosecutor's Office, an investigation of a case of computer systems violation, false assertions, adulteration of documents and other acts was investigated in the Municipality of Attica.

It was preceded by a recent complaint, according to which, as part of an audit by competent municipal officials, significant deficiencies in technical (computers) from the offices of the Financial Services Directorate of the Municipality as well as actions to delete official digital documents from computers.

According to the complaint, digital documents were deleted from computers and their copies were kept in digital storage media ( USB sticks), copies of which were not delivered to an official of the Municipality.

The Attorney of the First Instance of Athens was briefed immediately, which commissioned a preliminary examination, during which morning (10-09-2014) carried out lawful police searches in the homes of five (5) residents.

A total of one foreigner was found and seized and (4) portable storage devices ( USB sticks), which will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Greek Police for further laboratory examination.

The preliminary investigation material collected will be submitted to the relevant Prosecutor's Offices.
