After an extensive study on Dark Web markets, SurfWatch Labs security company today revealed that AlphaBay is the most popular Dark Web market.
The market appeared at the end of 2014, and managed to climb to the top of the rankings, surpassing many of its competitors, who closed voluntarily or with a "small help" from law enforcement authorities.
AlphaBay got its first wave of customers in March 2015, just a few months after the website opened. Then, the owners of another Dark Web market (Evolution) after taking all the Bitcoins from them users who had deposited them in their accounts on the site, disappeared.
In an interview with DeepDotWeb, the founder of AlphaBay, alpha02, reported that his website had more than 18.000 new users in the first three days after Evolution disappeared.
The same thing happened at the end of August, when Agora, another famous Dark Web Web site, decided to close citing safety issues for its users.
SurfWatch Labs said today that by October of 2015, AlphaBay has acquired a huge userbase consisting of 200.000 users, being one of Dark Web's most popular markets.
