Η DARPA plans the development of a particularly advancedof software, which will take on the role of autopilot in aircraft and will "help" the pilot even in emergency situations.
The program is called Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS) and, as announced, will integrate all fifty-year technological developments in the field of system automation and remote aircraft handling.
According to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) details of the program will be released next May. However, as it has been known, ALIAS will undertake to reduce the workload for pilots within the cockpit, increase crew performance and improve aircraft safety.

As an automated system, ALIAS will be able to perform the planned flight, from takeoff to landing, having the ability to handle even extraordinary events such as aircraft system loss.
