Dell EMC next generation PowerEdge servers

Dell EMC announces the international availability of its next generation of best-selling servers worldwide to help customers of all sizes promote their own IT transformation initiatives. As recently demonstrated at the Dell EMC World 2017 conference, the award-winning design of the new 14th generation of the Dell EMC portfolio PowerEdge servers creates a scalable, automated, and secure computing platform for traditional and cloud-native applications, designed for the new Intel Xeon Scalable processors.

In the recent IT Transformation Maturity Curve survey - ESG 2017 IT Transformation Maturity Curve, which was developed on Dell EMC's request, organizations that have advanced to their own IT transformation initiatives are seven times more likely to face technology as a factor in diversifying competitiveness. To achieve this, the priority for many of the IT transformation initiatives is located in the modern IT infrastructure, which is able to safely provide improved efficiency, while at the same time fostering innovation, which allows the emergence of new business models .Dell EMC

Thanks to the scalable enterprise architecture, intelligent automation and integrated security, the new portfolio 14th generation Dell EMC PowerEdge servers performs what they promise, based on the exact benefits they deserve.

PowerEdge servers, which form the foundation of modern data centers, enable customers to further advance their innovation, and at a faster pace, with the goal of achieving their own IT transformation goals.

The scalable enterprise architecture of Dell EMC PowerEdge servers helps customers harmonize their performance with changing business needs, thanks to advanced performance for both traditional, both virtualized and cloud-native applications, within a software-defined data center.

The new Dell EMC PowerEdge servers portfolio, which is specifically optimized for storage media non-volatile memory express (NVMe), helps customers to speed up stack storage software-defined and infrastructure hyper-converged with:

  • Accelerated database performance and latency up to 12 times more IOPS database and up to 98 percent less database lag in a VMware vSAN cluster.
  • Faster and single transition for virtual machines (Interactive machines) to 58 percent with 75 percent less CPU usage when using 25GbE with Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA).
  • Faster storage performance () in computer applications, aiming to maximize their performance up to six times in NVMe drives, up to five times higher overall, in flash storage, 30 percent more input / output jacks and 25 percent improvement of the density.

The intelligent automation of Dell EMC PowerEdge servers allows IT executives to focus on mission-critical tasks that add value to customers and the business. In particular, OpenManage Enterprise with the powerful RESTful API provides tools for automated installations, updates, monitoring and maintenance. The new, even more powerful OpenManage Enterprise management console offers users:

  • Easy management of the operating cycle servers από το στάδιο της εγκατάστασης, μέχρι την απόσυρση και την επαναχρησιμοποίηση, χάρη στον προηγμένο ενσωματωμένο Dell Remote Access (iDRAC9).
  • Up to 90 percent faster troubleshooting PowerEdge servers thanks to ProSupport Plus and SupportAssist proactive and predictive technology.

Dell EMC believes embedded security is vital for computing applications and should not require additional licensing costs. Dell EMC first introduced the concept of root of trust for PowerEdge servers over the last two generations. This cyber-resistant architecture allows customers to protect, locate, restore, and retire PowerEdge servers by:

  • Ασφαλής εκκίνηση με which secures end-to-end servers and generally promotes data center security. It includes features such as silicon-based root of trust, Intel Boot Guard, approved firmware and auto BIOS restore, and the new OpenManage Enterprise system as a virtual console that provides advanced security on servers, while offering greater business flexibility to customers.
  • System lock, an exclusive power of PowerEdge servers, which ensures any system synthesis from malicious or unintentional changes while alerting users of any attempted change in the system.
  • System deletion, which allows users to easily retrieve or re-use their own 14th PowerEdge servers, thanks to the secure and fast data deletion from storage media, as well as any other type of built-in non-volatile memory.

In collaboration with Intel, Dell EMC brings Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors to 14η generation of Dell EMC PowerEdge servers. Utilizing 27 for more computing cores, and 50 percent longer memory migration, customers with 14th generation Dell EMC PowerEdge servers are able to accelerate the performance of their critical applications. Dell EMC's most advanced PowerEdge series includes formatted systems rack and blade.

  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R640 - Ideally combines the computing and storage space on high-density-scale datacenters using a 1U / 2-processor platform.
  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 - High performance servers for demanding environments. They offer the ideal ratio of storage acceleration, I / O and application capabilities, as well as superior level flexibility in the 2U / 2 processor platform. R740 servers offer up to 50 percent more VDI per server and up to 50 percent higher GPU acceleration support for Hadoop analytics
  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R740XD - This 2U / 2 processor platform provides the best performance and density for applications such as software-defined storage, and the level of flexibility required by cloud providers, Hadoop / Big Data and co-location users hosting.
  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R940 - The specific 3U / 4-slot processor platform manages extremely demanding and vital applications for the business, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), e-commerce, as well as large-scale databases. PowerEdge R940 servers are able to save up to US $ 600.000 in Oracle licensing costs10 and deliver up to 44% faster in SAP SD Sybase environment 11
  • Dell EMC PowerEdge C6420 - Ideal servers for high performance computing applications. Maximize density, scalability and energy efficiency per unit, using a modular platform on a 2U / 8 processor slot.

PowerEdge servers are also the foundation for Dell EMC solutions. Dell EMC solutions and platforms, which are industry leaders, benefit equally from the power and security of the next generation of PowerEdge servers. The servers will be integrated into storage and data center systems, hyper-converged and rack systems, hybrid cloud platforms, nodes, packages and other Dell EMC solutions.

These integrations mean much more than just running software on hardware. Thanks to the industry leader, hardware and software, in the context of its extensive enterprise-wide portfolio, Dell EMC is able to integrate the software management system into the hardware, which ensures optimization of performance, as well and more in-depth tests and certifications of both factors.

The new servers will form the basis of Dell EMC solutions based on the previous generation PowerEdge, such as VxRail Appliances, VxRack Systems, XC Series, vSAN Ready Nodes, ScaleIO ReadyNodes, IsilonSD Edge and Elastic Cloud Storage. They will also be available for many new solutions and platforms from Dell EMC, such as Data Domain Appliance, CloudArray, Ready Bundles, Ready Systems, Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Dell EMC Native Hybrid Cloud, and Dell EMC Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack.
