Dell Precision 5520: Ο κ. Barton George της Dell ανακοίνωσε σήμερα τη διαθεσιμότητα για προ-παραγγελίες του δεύτερου φορητού workstation of the Precision series that comes with Ubuntu Linux.
So the new Dell Precision 5520 laptop workstation is available for pre-orders, and you can choose to take it with a pre-loaded LTS version of the Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus) operating system. The Dell Precision 5520 is Dell's second portable workstation powered by Canonical Ubuntu OS. The first was Dell Precision 3520.
The company states on the product page that the Dell Precision 5520 is the world's thinnest, lightest and smallest (15,6-inch) portable workstation featuring 7th-generation Intel Core or Intel Xeon processors and a PremierColor 4K InfinityEdge display that comes in UltraSharp variants Full HD (1920 × 1080) or UltraSharp Ultra HD (3840 × 2160).
The first thing you should know about this new Dell workstation is that it is fully customizable.
When accessing the electronic store of Dell to pre-order the device, you should select “Customize & Purchase” on the right side of the screen. There, you can choose all the features of your new device.
For example, the Dell Precision 5520 may have an Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor (quad-core clocked at 2.50GHz, or 3.50GHz Turbo, and Intel HD Graphics 630), or an Intel Core i7-7820HQ (quad-core 2.90GHz, 3.90GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, with Intel HD Graphics 630).
For 322 dollars in addition you can have a V6 Intel Core Xeon E3-1505M (Quad Core Xeon 3.00GHz, 4.00GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, with Intel HD Graphics 630). This particular laptop supports up to 32GB DDR4 SDRAM and runs at 2400MHz. You can also add a Nvidia Quadro M1200 graphics card with 4GB GDDR5 for 70 dollars.
There are only two options for the screen listed above. Both offer wide-view, anti-glare, LED-backlit with Dell Premium Warranty, but the Ultra HD also has a touchscreen.
The laptop has either a Dell Wireless 1820 card for 802.11ac Dual-Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 or an Intel Wi-Fi 8265 card for 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2. It has Thunderbolt 3, two USB 3.0 and one HDMI port, along with a memory card reader, a headphone jack and a power adapter port.
The price includes a 3-cell lithium-ion battery (56Wh), but you can also choose an 6-cell battery (97Wh) for the same price. Both options come with ExpressCharge support and an 130 Watt AC adapter (4.5mm barrel).
To subtract $101.50 from the original price, there is also an option installationof Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) instead of Windows 10 (default). The Dell Precision 5520 is now available for pre-order worldwide and will ship in 11-14 business days.
The best price you can pay for a new Dell Precision 5520 seems to be 1,297.50 US dollars, but maybe it's better to wait until the newer most powerful models released on 28 February in the US, namely Dell Precision 7520 and Dell Precision 7720 or the Dell Precision 5720 all-in-one PC on April 6.
