You can't avoid Meta AI on Facebook or Instagram

If you've been using Facebook or Instagram with a proxy for the past few days, you'll have noticed some changes. After adding Meta AI, AI is now built into your posts, feed, and search functionality on both sites.

Meta calls the assistant a way to "do things, learn, create and connect with everything that matters to you." Meta AI works like ChatGPT and other popular AI tools. But many have expressed concern about accidentally entering a question under a post and engaging with the chatbot, or trying to search for a profile and enter the chatbot.

Can you disable Meta AI?

Turns out you can't. There is no way to disable Meta AI on Facebook or Instagram. We asked Meta AI if we can turn it off and the chatbot replied that we can't.

“Select Settings and Privacy,” it said, “Then click Settings and scroll down to AI settings and click AI and mechanics ”. Από αυτήν την οθόνη, θα πρέπει να “Απενεργοποιήσετε την αναζήτηση AI”, αναφέρει το bot. Αυτό βέβαια είναι πρόβλημα γιατί δεν υπάρχουν οι ρυθμίσεις στην κύρια Settings as reported by the chatbot.

The Meta AI help page simply states that “Meta AI responses may not be accurate or appropriate”.

Is there any value in using Meta AI?

You can use it through Messenger or WhatsApp to write , to create and schedule events. The chatbot can offer insights and make suggestions under most Facebook or Instagram posts that will tell you more about a particular aspect of that post.

If someone posts something about almond blossoms for example, you might see a suggestion to ask when is the best time to see them.

The chatbot will be confusing at first, but it looks like Meta AI is here to stay, like it or not.
