Diaspora Social Network

Diaspora is one non-profit organisation, owned by users and one decentralized social network which is based on free Diaspora software. Diaspora consists of a group of independent proprietary nodes called pods that form the overall network. As of March 2014 there are now over 1 million in the Diaspora. Diaspora

The social network does not belong to any person or entity, preventing it from being the subject of corporate redemption or advertising. In September 2011, developers said, “the distributed design that follows Diaspora ensures that no big company will ever control Diaspora, never sell your social life to advertisers, and will not have to comply with arbitrary rules. ”

To FSNN διοικείται από τον Eben Moglen και το Sofware Freedom Law Center. To δίκτυο FSNN λειτουργεί ως η οργάνωση που διαχειρίζεται το branding και τα οικονομικά και νομικά of Diaspora assets.

Το λογισμικό είναι σχεδιασμένο για να δίνει την δυνατότητα στους χρήστες να μπορούν να «κατεβάζουν» όλες τους τις and the texts, at any time.

Other Diaspora features: User posts can be either 'public' or 'limited'. In the event that they are marked as 'limited', they can only be read by the group or groups of people that the user has defined. Users can send private messages to each other called conversations. Each new user account contains some default fields such as friends, family, work and acquaintances. The user can add fields as he wishes. It also allows the use of a pseudonym unlike Facebook. Posts can also be broadcast to connected facebook, tumblr and twitter accounts.

Diaspora was founded in 2010 by 4 New York City University students, Ilya Zhitomirskiy, Dan Grippi, Max Salzberg and Raphael Sofaer. The first node was presented by the developers in 2010 as έκδοση alpha. Το 2012 οι ιδρυτές ανακοίνωσαν ότι θα αφήσουν το κοινό να αναλάβει την δια of the project. Since then Diaspora has been developed and managed by members of its community. The focus of the community development team is to create stable versions of the software and further development such as better data communication between nodes and attracting as many volunteers as possible to write code for the project.
