The UAVs are turning to the United Arab Emirates government authorities to uphold the services they offer to citizens.
More specifically, in the coming months they will begin to test use in Dubai a model of an unmanned aerial vehicle in the role of "flying courier", which will take over the delivery public documents.
The pilot test in Dubai will last for one semester. Within this time, it will be determined what improvements should be made to the UAV so that the program can then be extended to all of the United Arab Emirates.
The unmanned aerial vehicle, which was developed with government funding, was unveiled at a press conference yesterday. About half a meter long, the UAV has four propellers powered by battery. Its autonomy reaches 3 kilometers, while it can fly at a speed of 40 km/h.
Although it can carry bundles weighing up to 1,5 kilo, it will initially be used to deliver driving identities and diplomas. It will also incorporate fingerprint sensors and eye iris to protect its load.
Although this is the first case where government authorities will employ UAVs, several Companies in the world are developing unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the most famous cases is Amazon, with its founder Jeff Bezos announcing last December in an interview that the American giant is building manned helicopters that will deliver the productjust half an hour after the original order the customer's.
