Twitter has verified accounts (with the green sign) on celebrity and trademark accounts using the platform to "authenticate" their identity. Of course, it is well known that the company does not accept requests for verification from the general public.

Malwarebytes reports from scammers trying to exploit the desire of thousands of users for the green sign and they built a website for theft of names and passwords that seem to be genuine.
The fake page looks real because all the links contained in it lead to legitimate pages hosted on Twitter's domains.

However, password theft occurs in the background and the victim immediately after the "verification" is taken to the FAQ page.

So beware of the hunters who promise hares with rocks.
