Cyber criminals do everything to get your online accounts, not only on Facebook but also on Twitter. A recent attempt discovered by Malwarebytes tries to obtain the credentials of unsuspecting users by promising a verified account on the micro-blogging service.
Twitter has verified accounts (with the green sign) on celebrity and trademark accounts using the platform to "authenticate" their identity. Of course, it is well known that the company does not accept requests for verification from the general public.
Malwarebytes says scammers are trying to take advantage of thousands of users' desire for the green light and have created a website to steal names and passwords access which appears to be genuine.
Η fake σελίδα φαίνεται αληθινή γιατί όλες οι συνδέσεις που περιέχονται σε αυτήν οδηγούν σε νόμιμες σελίδες, που φιλοξενούνται σε domains του Τwitter.
However, the theft of passwords does happen at background and the victim immediately after "verification" you are directed to the FAQ page.
So beware of the hunters who promise hares with rocks.
