Microsoft Edge has many great tools that enhance your browsing experience. Edge VPN (powered by CloudFlare) is one such feature, and as the name suggests, it's a simple one-click VPN service.
Until recently, Edge VPN only offered 1GB of free data, which is too little even for a short browse.
Now Microsoft has confirmed that the default limit has been increased. The updated Microsoft Edge support page confirms the change spotted by Edge Insiders last month.
The browser now offers 5GB of free data. However, you should be aware that in order to use Edge VPN you will need to sign in with a Microsoft account, which, in turn, automatically turns on syncing. Sync means that all your data will go through Microsoft servers.
It should be noted that Edge VPN is not an always-on solution.
Microsoft uses this as an additional security measure when you visit an unsecured website over HTTP or connect to an open Wi-Fi network.
Therefore, a dedicated VPN service with unlimited traffic will be a much better choice if the 5GB you keep is too little or if you want to use a VPN for streaming services.
