It is announced that 27-09-2014 entered into force its decision National Telecommunications and Post Commission, aimed at protecting citizens from theft of mobile devices.
With the aforementioned decision, mobile phone companies are obliged to deactivate (block), through the IMEI code, all devices mobile of phones reported by their subscribers as stolen.
Specifically, in case theftof a mobile phone device and in order for it to be deactivated, the owner of the device must first report the theft to the competent Greek Police Services, mentioning also the code I.M.E.I., while he will receive a proof of theft declaration.
Subsequently, he must submit to the provider a mobile telephone company to which he is a subscriber, written request to deactivate the device, attaching the theft statement.
It is noted that the "International Mobile Phone Code - I.M.E.I. (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) consists of 15 or 17 digits and is unique and for this reason it is used by networks mobile number to identify the phone when connecting.
Usually the IMEI number is listed in the "slot" that hosts the phone's battery. It is visibly printed on a white label that contains other items for the device. In many cases, the IMEI number is listed on the packaging, in the accompanying documents, in the user manual, and in the legal proof of the purchase of the mobile, while the majority of mobile devices can also be recovered electronically.
