Workshop for the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT)

EIT: The event, organized by GSRT and the ESF, will present new funding opportunities for AEIs, research centers and businesses.

The General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) and the National Documentation Center (ESF) are organizing an Information Day for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the new funding opportunities for AEIs, research centers and businesses. The event will take place on Friday 18 March (09.30-14.30) in Athens (L. Zervas Amphitheater, National Research Foundation, Vas. Konstantinos 48).

Το Ευρωπαϊκό Ινστιτούτο Καινοτομίας και Τεχνολογίας (European Institute of Innovation & Technology), με χρηματοδότηση 2,35 δισ. ευρώ από το πρόγραμμα Ορίζοντας 2020 της ΕΕ, αποτελεί την πρώτη ευρωπαϊκή πρωτοβουλία για την ολοκλήρωση του “Τριγώνου της Γνώσης” (education, έρευνα, επιχειρηματικότητα) μέσω των “Κοινοτήτων Γνώσης και Καινοτομίας” (Knowledge Innovation Clusters, KICs).

The EIT is developing actions to:

entrepreneurship education for researchers (postgraduate, doctoral and business training programs),
the development of innovative products, services and business models,
the creation and development of businesses (start-up incubation, transfer technologys, linking research and production, awards, etc.).

The EIT function started with 2008 and, to date, the following Knowledge and Innovation Communities are functioning:

KIC for Information and Communication Technologies (EIT Digital), with the participation of organizations from Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom
KIC on climate change mitigation and climate change (Climate-KIC), involving organizations from Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Spain and Italy
KIC for Sustainable Energy (KIC InnoEnergy), involving organizations from Spain, France, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium
KIC for Healthy Living and Active Aging (EIT Health), with the participation of organizations from Sweden, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands (joint-center of the Netherlands-Belgium)
KIC for raw materials (EIT Raw Materials), with the participation of organizations from Finland, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, France and Poland.

The current call for proposals, with a deadline of July 14, 2016, concerns the creation of two new KICs in the areas:

EIT-Foods for the Future (EIT Food: Food4Future - Sustainable Supply Chain from Resources to Consumers): is concerned with ensuring a sustainable global value chain, resistant to climate change, and
EIT-Manufacturing: Added-value Manufacturing: it is about strengthening and increasing the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in Europe.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης, η Μathea Fammels, Head of Unit “Policy and Communications” (acting) του ΕΙΤ, και ο Αντώνης Φυσεκίδης, KIC Project Officer του EIT, θα παρουσιάσουν τις προκηρύξεις και τις χρηματοδοτικές ευκαιρίες για τους ελληνικούς οργανισμούς. Στη συνέχεια εκπρόσωποι των 5 Κοινοτήτων Γνώσης και Καινοτομίας (KICs) του ΕΙΤ θα παρουσιάσουν τις επιμέρους δράσεις των KICs. Οι συμμετέχοντες θα ενημερωθούν επίσης για συμπληρωματικά χρηματοδοτικά tools.

It is noted that the National Documentation Center acts as the National Contact Point for the EU Horizon 2020 program for research and innovation (www.ekt.gr/horizon2020) and for a number of its individual programs, supporting the Greek academic, research and business community for its participation. Covering all stages of research projects, from the preparation of the proposal to the implementation and exploitation of the research results, the services of the EKT include: Information and Consultancy Services, Support Office Operation, Development and Distribution of Information Material, Diorganization εκδηλώσεων και σεμιναρίων, Εξεύρεση συνεργατών για την συγκρότηση κοινοπραξιών και την από κοινού υποβολή προτάσεων, Καταγραφή της εθνικής συμμετοχής και version στατιστικών στοιχείων και δεικτών απόδοσης.
