Elementary OS is a Ubuntu-based linux distribution. Some of the features that make distribution unique are a custom desktop environment called Pantheon and a custom one for mobile devices to report the center.
The last version of the project is elementary OS 5.1.2 “Hera”, which comes with updated packages, a new login screen and an onboarding app to guide new users to the available features.
“The newly redesigned login and lockscreen greeter looks and works better, but also fixes a lot problems that have been mentioned with the previous greeter, such as focus issues, HiDPI and localization issues.
The new design of the Hera version meets the comments of Juno version users and adds some new features. It will always display usernames for all users, shows user backgrounds as cards so you can find them easier especially those without avatars, alerts when Caps or Num Lock is enabled and has a 'Log In' screen as Guest' is very special when enabled.
The new Onboarding app brought by the Hera release introduces the basic features to users and helps them perform some common tasks after first logging into functional, such as managing privacy settings.”
