The Emotient's Glassware software processes facial expressions and then offers an estimate of the person's emotional state.
Google Glass is the gadget that will allow us to give the world a more μα online look. However, the venture of a startup company from San Diego in the United States may change the data.
This is Emotient, which secured $6 million in funding to develop a application which will allow Google Glass to "read" human emotions.
According to her report by clicking heres "The Next Web" the company is going to develop an application that will take advantage of the Emotion API technology and will offer the possibility of recognizing human emotions, both in depictions of people (e.g. photos) and in real time through the camera software .
The Emotient's Glassware software processes facial expressions and then offers an assessment of the emotional state of the person, to a particular grade (positive, negative, neutral), to elementary feelings (joy, surprise, regret, fear, disgust, contempt and anger) or more complex (confusion and disruption).
Testers of the app will receive an immediate assessment of the feelings of the person in front of them, but there will not be any data storage (videos or photos). Emotient's testers will test Glassware in the retail sector, where, for example, salespeople will be able to better understand reactions of the public in particular productthe or services.
Also an area that showed interest in Emotient's research was also the automotive industry. According to Ken Denman, CEO of The Next Web, Honda was one of the first to be interested, since this technology could help engineers and designers better understand the characteristics of a vehicle, less to a prospective customer.
Practically, apps could be unlimited, from the education sector to analyzing the emotional state of the students, to the focus area where restaurateurs could perceive whether a meal satisfied the customer.
