Rumors of a subscription version of Windows for consumers are circulating For several years. It seems to be her next logical step Microsoft in its effort to have continuous income from the producthers.

The change was discovered in the latest Canary build of Windows 11, and a parallel check of the same file in Windows 23 build 2H11 confirmed that the entries are new.
The new entries were found in the German version of Windows 11 released through the Canary channel. Additions to the slmgr.ini file show the Subscription Version, Subscription Type, and Subscription Status.
Microsoft could release a subscription version of Windows next year. It could also use the rumored release of Windows 12 in 2025 to add the subscription option for consumers.
