Its European Cybercrime Center (EC3). , which is an agency that works under the close supervision of the European Union, explains at PDF released today ότι υπολογιστές που τρέχουν με Windows XP, θα γίνει ευάλωτοι σε επιθέσεις, καθώς δεν θα κυκλοφορούν νέα patches after 8 April.

“This does not mean that Windows XP computers will stop working. It means that there will no longer be security updates, or hotfixes, or online technical content updates or any kind of technical support for the operating after that date. This coincides with the end of support for Office 2003 as well.
From the user's point of view, and practically speaking, this means that the vulnerabilities that will be discovered from April 8 onwards in Windows XP and Office 2003 will remain unpatched, "the warning states.

At the same time, the EC3 service also issued some recommendations for those who are still running Windows XP systems, stressing that upgrading to a newer operating system is mandatory for their security. Possible switching to a Macintosh or Linux operating system is also referred to as a suggestion for users who are forced to change their operating system.

On the other hand, users who do not wish to upgrade and plan to continue with the "ancient" operating system should install all operating system and Office 2003 updates.

Remember that "ancient" Windows XP still holds 29% of the market share. So it is hard to believe that all these users will change operating system by April 8.
