More problems on Facebook. Federal prosecutors, according to the New York Times, launched a about Facebook's data sharing practices that it shared with more than 150 other technology companies.

This data contained user information, and in some cases the they had not given without their consent.Facebook

The committee is supervised by the office of the United States Prosecutor of the East District of New York and has requested records from at least two major device manufacturers, according to the Times.

Device manufacturers are among the dozens of companies that had Facebook data exchange agreements, and were exempt from standard privacy rules, which allowed them to access users' friends, contact details, and other data.

Facebook naturally stated that it has finished most of these deals.

In one his statement at ZDNet, a Facebook spokeswoman said:

It has already been reported that there are ongoing federal surveys, such as the Ministry of Justice. As we have already said, we are working with the investigators and we are taking this very seriously. We had made a public statement, answered questions and promised that we would continue to make changes.
