As Facebook's largest social network seems to think of releasing its own crypto-coins. The company, according to reports, looks at the release of some cryptography to facilitate payments. The information about Facecoin was published for by Cheddar
The publication says that efforts to create a digital currency will be led by David Marcus, who until recently was the head of the department Facebook Messenger.
There is not much detail so far, but Cheddar says that it may take a few years to implement the project.
The technologies blockchain is currently still in its infancy, and it is probably unlikely to expect Facebook to rely on decentralized solutions until it can handle large transaction volumes, an issue facing the entire blockchain industry.
The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, had reports in the past that the company is open to experimenting with the blockchain.
Indeed, publications by beginning of the week claim that Facebook has created a new research and development department specifically devoted to exploring the implementation of blockchain integration solutions on its platform.
Creating a cryptocurrency is not a bad idea as it seems to be a win-win deal. Those interested will get one service more secure than Mt.Gox and Facebook will get the resources it needs to continue operating “for free” or at least without fees.
