Fruit of the partnership between Facebook and Storyful (News Corp) is the tool FB Newswire, which aims to make it easier for journalists and publishers to locate, share, and use content on the popular social network.
The two companies hope that FB Newswire will be an important tool for journalism/news organizations to leverage material uploaded to Facebook by users and agencies around the world.
Storyful qualifies as a "social news agency" that identifies, crosses, acquires and distributes videos and generally user-generated content. Founded in Dublin, 2010 was purchased in December of 2013 by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. instead of 15 million dollars.
Special algorithm detects themethose of news interest on Facebook, in categories such as sports, entertainment, etc technology and politics. They are then picked up by Storyful's journalism teams, who check their validity before appearing on FB Newswire.

This particular move from Facebook seems to be aimed at strengthening its position in the field of direct news and breaking news, where Twitter is currently dominating.
