Through partnerships with several private security companies, including Symantec, the FBI was able to seize much of the infrastructure used to spread the two threats. Symantec even released a new free one tool which victims can use to catslowyou are completely the infections from Gameover Zeus.
Gameover Zeus has been responsible for millions of infections worldwide since its release in September 2011. Attackers use it to track online banking, and to defraud customers of hundreds of financial institutions worldwide.
The Crytpolocker is in the meantime one of the last and most threatening ransomware that has occurred. It works by encrypting the files on the victim's hard drive and asks for a ransom to decrypt it.
