FBI: Hit Gameover Zeus and the Cryptolocker ransomware network

The FBI, the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency, as well as other international law enforcement agencies have dealt two major blows to global online financial fraud: the Gameover Zeus botnet and its network ransomware.

Gameover Zeus has been responsible for millions of infections worldwide since its release in September 2011. Attackers use it to track online banking, and to defraud customers of hundreds of financial institutions worldwide.

The Crytpolocker is in the meantime one of the last and most threatening ransomware that has occurred. It works by encrypting the files on the victim's hard drive and asks for a ransom to decrypt it.
