The FBI, the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency, as well as other international law enforcement agencies have dealt two major blows to global online financial fraud: the Gameover Zeus botnet and its network Cryptolocker ransomware.
With partnerships they had with several private companies Companies ασφαλείας, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της Symantec, the FBI was able to seize much of the infrastructure used to propagate the two threats. Symantec even released a new free tool that victims can use toslowyou are completely the infections from Gameover Zeus.
Gameover Zeus has been responsible for millions of infections worldwide since its release in September 2011. Attackers use it to track online banking, and to defraud customers of hundreds of financial institutions worldwide.
The Crytpolocker is in the meantime one of the last and most threatening ransomware that has occurred. It works by encrypting the files on the victim's hard drive and asks for a ransom to decrypt it.
