The US Army continues to build more and more advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones.
The American company Battelle on the other hand, has developed a carbine-style weapon to deal with those unwanted drones flying around.
DroneDefender is a revolutionary weapon specifically designed to target and strike flying drones from just 400 meters, but without completely destroying them.
Battelle's DroneDefender uses radio waves to neutralize in-flight drones and force them to land or stay away from you or return to their take-off point.
See a relevant video that looks like the gun works. In the show, the shooter forces the unsprayed craft to land on the desired spot.

According to manufacturer's website, DroneDefender weighs less than 5 pounds and can disable a hostile unmanned aircraft within 400 meters.
Really, how does DroneDefender work?
Once the gun operator pulls the trigger, the DroneDefender emits radio pulses that interrupt the system communications of the unmanned aircraft (both drone and GPS signalsender) thus preventing the drone from receiving extra commands by its operator.
The drone, not having communicated with his operator, starts a security protocol at his disposal, indicating either that he or she continues to hang in position or land slowly at the point where his signal is lost or return to his take-off point.
This is not the first weapon specially designed to shoot drones. Besides of course the classic weapons that can break almost everything, have been built and other weapons against the drones, even laser.
Τbut the Battelle DroneDefender is the first device which is able to hit the UAVs in the sky without damaging their system.
