In talks for the sale of the unprofitable computer division Vaio a Japanese investment fund is allegedly located Sony, according to information cited by the international media.
A potential sale of Vaio would end a long search for a buyer and mark one of the boldest exit strategies for Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai, who has been working to put the company on the road to recovery.
In accordance with MarketWatch, the fund in question is expected to establish a new company, which will take over Sony's personal computer unit in Japan and continue sales of the productof. The price of the transaction has not yet been determined, a source with knowledge of the matter said.
Sony started selling Vaio computers in 2006 and today employs about 1000 employees in this section.
