With the aim of uniting and highlighting the Greek talent in the creative industries (creative industries) and its connection, through technology, with the sectors of Culture and Tourism, the Collaborative Formation of Recreational and Creative Technologies & Applications - gi-Cluster, managed within just five years of its launch to grow rapidly and to be among the fewer clusters worldwide in the field of creative industries who have received the top distinction of excellence "Gold label"By the European Cluster Analysis Secretariat (ESCA).
This top distinction of the gi-Cluster, which simultaneously achieves the placement of Greece on the world "map" of the Creative Industries, is the result of a steady course of development of the domestic value chain of the creative economy which, against the crisis, develops innovative products and services that are exported and distinguished in the global market, while conducting research and development at par with the leading European research and academic pockets of excellence.
The innovation ecosystem of gi-Cluster, under its management Corallia, now approaches the 60 statutory members and dozens of other collaborating bodies, including small and medium-sized businesses, startups, academic institutions, research centers, technology institutes and other innovation bodies, which cover a wide range of the domestic digital creative economy.
About half of the members of gi-Cluster focus on the Entertainment Technologies and Applications industry by developing software and applications of entertainment & educational character as well as technological solutions and gamification tools, while the rest are active in the development of Creative Content and Audiovisual Applications such as of Culture, modern services and applications for the Tourism industry and production of digital multimedia material.
It is characteristic that, according to a study by the European Commission, over the next three years, only the European digital creative market is expected to grow by 63 billion and create 5 millions of new jobs, due directly to the catalytic introduction of Information Technology Creative Industries.
gi-Cluster is the only ecosystem in Greece that cultivates this new environment of multi-sectoral collaborations in the creative economy, combining application development, online service provision and management data, with visual arts, social sciences and humanities, audiovisual productions and other related fields.
The ultimate goal of gi-Cluster is to exploit the proliferation factor of our country's strong competitive advantages in the fields of Tourism and Culture and to promote the Greek creative economy as a major lever for the development and research activity of Europe.
