In an ongoing effort to stop spammers, Google has started rejecting messages on service gmail, which include "very limited" character combinations.
Google started to uses a new tool that aims to prevent spammers' e-mails from reaching Gmail users' inboxes. The company announced on Tuesday that it adds new spam filters to its email platform in an attempt to stop receiving misleading or phishing messages.
Filters deal with searching e-mail that they use Unicode Consortium which could let spammers fool users. Most companies, apps, and websites use Unicode so that their characters work across platforms. However, some characters look almost identical, such as the Latin and Cyrillic “a.”
"Fraudsters can take advantage of the fact that ವ, 0, and о look almost identical to the letter o, and by mixing and matching them, they can trick unsuspecting victims," said Mark Risher of team Google Anti Spam. “Can you imagine the danger if you click on “Sh ạ ppingSite” instead of “ShoppingSite” and “MyBank” instead of “MyBɑnk?”
It remains to be seen whether the new filtering of the company will be functional and will lead to unwanted messages on the spam tab.
We have to remind and admit that Gmail has the best protection against spam online right now.
