Google received 27.477 requests for data affecting 42.648 accounts, as the company reveals. The figures are slightly higher than those reported by Google for the first half of last year, which concerned 25,879 requests for 42.500 accounts.

The numbers in both accounts are much higher than 2013 than in the previous year, indicating an increased interest of the authorities in the digital life of their suspects.

Yahoo's Transparency Report for the second half of 2013 shows the company received 21.425 requests for data from around the world, affecting 32.493 accounts. This means the company received 50.895 of the government in 2013, affecting 95.268 accounts.

These numbers include requests Surveillance Act (FISA Act).

Neither business was able to provide exact details on how many such requests they received, but will do so at a later date. This is because the US government has agreed to allow companies to disclose only the number of FISA applications with six months and per 1.000, which led to a series of confusing transparency reports earlier in the year.
