Why did Google block again Kickass Torrents?

Οι χρήστες του Google Chrome και του Mozilla Firefox χρήστες που επισκέπτονται τη δημοφιλή torrent Kickass Torrents (KAT) will have already seen a malware warning. As of yesterday, Google started showing similar warning messages to the ones we saw in October 2015.Kickass Torrents

So if you try to visit the Kickass Torrents pages http://kat.cr and https://kat.cr you will see a message that warns you that the page is trying to cheat on you.

This issue only affects browsers that use the Google Safe Browsing.

The warnings are slightly different, depending on the browser you are using, but the substance is the same.

Chrome users read:

"Kat.cr attackers can trick you into doing something dangerous, such as installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards)."

While Firefox users:

“This website on kat.cr has been reported as fake and blocked based on preferences your."

What can you do; Chrome users can skip the message by doing so in Details and then “visit this unsafe website,” while Firefox users can click “Ignore this warning” to bypass the warning.

The Kickass Torrents team told TorrentFreak that they discovered the fault:

"In order to improve the security of our users we have coded every link that leads outside the site to use a confirmation window and this time the Google warning refers to this feature that has been posted in our community. We have reported this to Google and look forward to having this security alert removed soon. "
