At 22 / 05 we published the first time for upcoming release of the new Brillo operating system, for devices intended for the Internet of Things.
Today Google announced Brillo, a lightweight operating system that uses the Android core. Along with the Brillo, the company also announced the service Weave, which will help all IoT devices communicate with each other.
Weave, for example, can connect all the devices from a home, not just to your phone, but to one another. Weave will have APIs to develop cross-platform applications so that connected devices speak the same language.
The new Brillo operating system will also be able to perceive voice commands (such as "give me an ice cube" you can say in a smart fridge).
Google also wants to use Brillo to improve the IoT user interface. Brillo, along with the Weave service, looks set to offer significant value applications, if you think of them working together inside a house.
“Every Android device connected to a device using Brillo or Weave will show the same things. You will be able to access the Brillo platform through your mobile device, add owners for a device. That is, it will be a node control that everyone will be able to have control, regardless of the device they use.”
Vrillo will be available by the end of the year, while Weave will be released later.
