Google Daydream: After its first "device” of cardboard, which has 50 millions app installs, Google accelerates VR development.
Noting that cardboard is a little limited, Google has introduced a new platform called Daydream and focuses on a better VR experience on Android.
Google Daydream currently has a reference design for a standalone device and remote control. The device as you see in the drawing above will look a lot like it Oculus, while the remote control resembles an Apple TV remote control.
Google also says that the standalone device will be released this fall.
The company says the device won't just be for games, but will allow you to watch series from HBO and Netflix (among others). With the upcoming Android N and VR Mode they all seem easier.
And yes, the YouTube will also be available in VR.
We are not going to see it until the fall, but with Daydream it seems that the mobile VR platform will become more interesting. Developers can start deploying Daydream applications starting today.
