Google Quizzes are also coming to Greece (for the first time), a test that enables programmers to measure their skills and "opens" a door for them to be recruited in company. "Vehicle" is the "Developer Days" international conference that will be held at the I.Vellidis conference center of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) on February 20 and 21, organized by the Google Developers Community (GDG Thessaloniki) and TIF-HELEXPO.
The Google Quizzes are online tests aimed at programmers (Software Engineers). They have a high degree of difficulty, experts say, but if someone manages to solve them, they go straight to Google's HR department for evaluation and are one step closer to being hired by the company as Google Software Engineer.
"The Google Quizzes is a test run by the company itself. We, as an official Google developer community, are promoting this process to give Greece's programmers the opportunity to participate and learn about the quizzes, "he explained by speaking to ANA-MPA as the founder of GDG Thessaloniki, Panayiotis Tzinis.
Responsible for the process that will be enforced on the first day of the conference, (Thursday 20 February) will be Fillip Hracek (Developer Relations Program Managers) from Google Global.
"Google always needs programmers, regardless of whether they are Greek or from another country. He just wants the best!", emphasizes Mr. Tzinis. Referring to the fact that the specific tests are being conducted for the first time in Greece and indeed in Thessaloniki, he pointed out: "Usually Google organizes them when it sees some 'mobility'. From the last Thessaloniki International Fair until today, it seemed that there is a high interest from Greek developers for Google products and tools. Of course, the Google Developer Community in Thessaloniki contributed to this, with the support of TIF- HELEXPO».
On the second day of the conference (21 February), participants will be able to subscribe to the newsletter at Dart's Pavilion to get information on all the "Google Quizzes" made around the world. Meanwhile, Mr Hracek will be the keynote speaker for the new DART programming language, which will be able to be heard by those participating in the Codelab workshop.
It is an open source "language" supported by Google and its full version was released just two months ago. According to the developer of GDG Thessaloniki, Vangelis Tsati, DART is a "powerful", innovative and fast tool in the hands of professionals that is expected to significantly reduce - up to 40% - investment in time and money.
The Google Developer Community (GDG Thessaloniki) decided to give its support to the inhabitants of Kefalonia affected by recent earthquakes. Thus, in order to financially support the victims, it offers for sale t-shirts - specially designed by GDG Thessaloniki for Kefalonia - either online or during the conference. Part of the sales revenue will be given to meet the needs of the earthquake victims. Indeed, according to Mr. Tzinis, the initiative, at the beginning of the conference, is expected to attend and welcome the Deputy Mayor of Kefalonia, Evangelos Kekatos.
In the context of the "Developer Days", will take place in a specially designed space presentation of: DELL computers, Technopolis Thessaloniki, ELLAK (free software company) and European Youth Capital 2014 - Thessaloniki.
