Google browses… Google drinks

The American giant was caught red-handed promoting its own services through the search engine.google

So far we knew that to get "high up" in her puzzles Google there would have to be a series of reasons and all this happened as democratic as it did not involve a human hand but the presentation order was the result of algorithms.

A request to open the records of an investigation conducted by the FTC (the US Federal Trade Commission) showed that Google is not what it is trying to convey through its "Don't be evil" message. According to the research της Gοogle δεν ήταν αυτό που θα έλεγε κάποιος ουδέτερος. Αντίθετα έβγαζε τα “δικά της ” in first place regardless of whether these were strong players or not. For example, the unknown "Google Flights" magically managed to come out on top of TripAdvisor.

As reported by Wall Journal, which brought the case to light, the investigation although ruled that by this practice Google abused the dominant position it holds to the detriment of its competitors was not severely punished as the verdict coincided with the acquisition of Motorola.

The news came at a not-so-good time for the US company as the European Commission began re-investigating whether the dominant "watchdog" continues to violate free competition rules. European authorities have an unbelievable ally in this effort American companies such as Microsoft, Expedia and TripAdvisor that lost Google's stake in Epirus due to Google's policy.
