Windows 7 has not been supported by Microsoft since January of this year. But a large number of companies and users do not want to upgrade to Windows 10.
Google planned to end support for Chrome for Windows 7 on July 15, 2021. However, the company acknowledged that 2020 was not a year like any other and that some IT projects, such as upgrading an entire network to Windows 10 , have been left behind.
With the help of Kantar, Google discovered that 21% of companies are still in the procedure finstallations in Windows 10.
After assessing the current situation and based on the comments of its corporate customers, Google has decided to extend its support for Chrome for Windows at least until January 15, 2022. This is a extension 6 months from date that they had originally set (on July 15, 2021).
With this extension of support, the Companies that have upgrades in progress can rest assured that their users still running Windows 7 will continue to be safe with Chrome.
Google hopes the expansion of support will give corporate customers the flexibility they need to continue to support their workforce while slowly releasing Windows 7, as the times allow.
