A team hackers from Indonesia managed to deface its local search page Google.
On October 5, "MadLeets" hackers posted an image as proof of the attack on their page at Facebook.
Indonesia's Google search page turned black and contained a message from MadLeets that said: "Security is just an illusion."
It appears that the hackers took over the DNS servers used by Google and replaced them with ones under their control. DNS is the system responsible for its translation addressς IP (αριθμός) από μια ηλεκτρονική τοποθεσία σε letterthe (domains).
So many users were unable to access the service of Google since there was no search box. Telkom, one of the largest telecommunication services company in the country, refused that hackers have broken their systems to change the DNS servers they point to Google.
The hackers a little later added a search box to the page to allow users to search for information from the Google index.
Google Indonesia confirmed the attack and said the issue had been resolved. It seems that the hackers had no malicious intent and all they wanted was to show what they could do.
