Google is announcing today its new initiative regarding training in Artificial Intelligence in Greece (AI Skilling Initiative in Greece), aiming to accelerate the digital transition through AI and ensure equal opportunities, accessible to all. The AI Education Program will be implemented jointly with experts and through significant partnerships and will cover a wide range of AI-related topics, skills and knowledge areas. The specific program will be available through the platform Grow with Google.

This initiative follows the new financial report conducted by Implement Consulting Group on behalf of Google, which was presented during the 9th Delphi Economic Forum.

The study highlights that the widespread adoption of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI) has the potential to increase Greece's annual GDP by 10-12 billion euros per year, a contribution that will be reflected in about ten years from now, when this technology is expected to to be fully integrated into the production process and economy. This percentage corresponds to +6% of the Greek GDP. The impact of productive artificial intelligence is mainly due to the enhancement of productivity for the majority of workers (62%) which is estimated at 8-10 billion euros in Greece.

With all of the above in mind, Google designed a new collective training program in Greece, in collaboration with important partners and institutions. The specific program will cover a variety of topics, needs and skills and will be addressed to different social groups. It is a nationwide initiative that initially consists of 4 different pillars, while it will be enriched by Google during the year both in educational programs and partnerships:

  • New training program on Artificial Intelligence for everyone in Greece: Google's new AI training programs give individuals, students and businesses the tools they need to get the most out of AI, whether it's saving time, boosting creativity, finding new jobs or growing businesses. This initiative will be available to all for free through the platform Grow with Google, with interactive live webinars (in Greek) and on-demand courses (in English), designed for users of all learning levels, from beginners to advanced.
  • Upgrading the skills of civil servants: In partnership with the Home Office, Google will provide AI training to civil servants to enhance their knowledge and familiarity with AI.
  • Strengthening the industrial sector: Google collaborates with the Association of Businesses and Industries (SEB) to develop specialized training programs in Artificial Intelligence, both for large and small and medium-sized Greek businesses. These are personalized training programs adapted to the needs of each industry.
  • Helping Greek workers benefit from the potential of artificial intelligence: In the framework of the initiative "AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe” announced last February, the AI Opportunity Fund: Europe"Of his Google.org, which was developed in collaboration with the Center for Impact, θα επεκταθεί και στην Ελλάδα. Since 2015, we have trained over 275 thousand people across Greece in digital skills, in collaboration with government agencies and local communities, through programs such as “Grow Greece With Google". We leverage our experience in providing digital skills training to ensure that everyone can benefit from the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence brings. These skills are essential as we prepare the workforce to be able to respond to the new working conditions being shaped by Artificial Intelligence.” she said Its General Manager Google of Southeast Europe, Peggy Antonakou.
