The service Google Photos it will no longer allow you to upload video formats it does not support. So you won't be able to take advantage of the free unlimited storage that the company offers.
The news was published at support site of service earlier this weekteam.
It's a minor change that doesn't seem to affect too many users, as Google Photos already supports the following video formats:
.mpg, .mod, .mvv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and. mkv.
In the above list there are no archives RAW and VOB which usually take up a lot of storage space. So if you have such files stored in your account, get ready for some surprises, as you will probably have to pay Google for the space they take up if you don't remove them from your account.
Remember that the service provides free and unlimited space for storing images, at a low price analysis. Photographers and other professionals who want full resolution of the images they upload to the service will have to pay.
According to the company, free and unlimited storage allows only "optimized" images (ie compressed).
