The new feature, according to the Billboard, is part of a multi-year licensing agreement with company LyricFind based in Toronto, Canada will lead to a new source of income for musicians and publishers.
The new feature is accessible starting today for US users only, though the deal with LyricFind reportedly includes international licensing as well. Although terms of the deal were not released, the CEO et alfounder LyricFind's Darryl Ballantyne believes it will be "a significant revenue stream" that could run into millions for music companies and songwriters.
Mr Ballantyne told Billboard: "Everything will be based on usage. "The more appearances, the more people will be paid."
For users, this means that you no longer need to click on a third site to see the lyrics in a song. So far, the search for bets is based on various bootleg sites that although they receive advertising revenue are not allowed to publish the lyrics.
And, of course, Google will benefit from it as well connection which will provide each complete lyrics with Google Play where users can purchase the song.
