Reuters: H Google won a deal to provide cloud services to Elon Musk's SpaceX, which launched a series of satellites Starlink to provide high speed internet.
SpaceX will build ground stations at Google data centers that will connect to Starlink satellites, enabling fast and secure services internet through Google Cloud, as stated by Google.
This service is expected to be available in the second half of 2021.
The deal comes at a time when demand for cloud-computing services has grown, with players such as Microsoft Corp and Amazon.com Inc to dominate the market. Cloud companies have also tapped into the telecom sector due to increased demand for 5G connectivity.
Google's cloud computing accounts for about 7% of its total revenue since the last earnings report.
Last October, Microsoft won a similar deal with SpaceX to connect the Azure cloud computing platform to Starlink.
The private company SpaceX, known for its reusable rockets, increases production of satellites for Starlink, a growing fleet of hundreds of Internet satellites that Musk hopes will generate enough revenue to help fund SpaceX interplanetary targets.
